A Feralhook Guide to a More Comfortable Fit
Whether your glasses are brand new or have loosened slightly with wear, they may sometimes sit too low, feel too high, or look uneven. A few small adjustments can often improve the fit. Use this Feralhook guide to identify common fit issues and make careful, minor adjustments.
Before You Start
Stand in front of a mirror and look straight ahead. Check whether the lenses sit evenly in front of your eyes and whether the frame feels balanced on your nose and ears. Make only small adjustments at a time.
1. If Your Glasses Are Sitting Too Low on Your Nose
For Wire or Metal Frames with Adjustable Nose Pads
Gently push the nose pads inward, a little at a time, until the frame sits higher and feels comfortably supported on your nose.
For Plastic Frames
Warm the temple tips under comfortably warm water for about 30-60 seconds. Once slightly more flexible, gently bend the temple ends downward to increase the curve behind your ears and help reduce slipping.
2. If Your Glasses Are Sitting Too High on Your Nose
For Wire or Metal Frames with Adjustable Nose Pads
Gently move the nose pads outward, a little at a time, until the glasses sit slightly lower and rest comfortably on your nose.
For Plastic Frames
Warm the temple tips under comfortably warm water for about 30-60 seconds. Then gently bend the temple ends upward to relax the curve behind your ears.
3. If Your Glasses Are Crooked or Tilted
Place the glasses upside down on a flat, level surface and check whether both temple arms rest evenly. If one side sits higher than the other, the temples may need a minor adjustment.
For Wire or Metal Frames
Using your hands, gently adjust the temple arm in very small increments until the frame sits more evenly. If tools are required, professional adjustment is recommended to avoid scratching or damaging the frame.
For Plastic Frames
If a plastic temple requires reshaping, gentle warmth can make the material easier to adjust. Warm only the temple area gradually, then make a very small correction. Avoid overheating the frame or applying heat near the lenses.
Adjustment Tips
- Make small adjustments and check the fit after each change.
- Do not force the frame, hinges, nose pads, or temple arms.
- Avoid boiling water, open flames, or excessive heat.
- Avoid applying direct heat to prescription lenses or lens coatings.
- If the frame is severely bent, cracked, loose, or difficult to adjust, stop and seek professional eyewear assistance.
A Quick Fit Check
- The frame should sit level across your face.
- The glasses should not slide down your nose during normal movement.
- The nose pads or bridge should feel secure without excessive pressure.
- The temple arms should rest comfortably without pinching the sides of your head.
- The frame should not feel noticeably higher on one side than the other.
