A Feralhook Guide to Entering Your Prescription Correctly

Entering your prescription correctly is essential when ordering prescription eyewear. Use this guide to identify the type of prescription you have and enter the values exactly as they appear on your prescription. If your prescription does not include a Pupillary Distance (PD), you will still need to provide your PD when ordering prescription lenses.

Single Vision Prescription

If your prescription is for single-vision lenses, select the Single Vision option and enter the required prescription information exactly as shown on your prescription.

Pay close attention to the values for your right eye (OD) and left eye (OS), including all plus (+) and minus (-) signs.

Single Vision Prescription with Prism

If your prescription includes prism correction, enter the prism information in addition to the standard prescription fields. Make sure all prism values and directions are entered exactly as written on your prescription.

Important: If your prescription does not show a PD (Pupillary Distance), you will still need to measure and enter your PD.

Progressive Prescription

If your prescription is for progressive lenses, enter the distance prescription values and any additional information required for near vision, including the ADD value where applicable.

Prescription formats can vary. Some prescriptions may display values in a different numerical format. For example, a value written as +225 may need to be entered as +2.25, while -150 may be entered as -1.50.

How to Determine ADD When Near and Distance Values Are Listed

In some prescription formats, near and distance values are listed separately instead of showing an ADD value. The ADD can be determined from the difference between the near and distance spherical values.

Example: Near OD +0.75 - Distance OD -1.50 = ADD +2.25

Different prescription layouts may represent the same final lens prescription. Always enter the values according to the fields shown during Feralhook lens customization.

Important: A PD value is still required even if it is not printed on your prescription.

Reading Prescription

If your prescription is specifically for reading glasses, select the appropriate reading or prescription lens option and enter the information exactly as shown on your prescription.

Important: Do not forget to provide your PD even when it is not listed on the prescription.

Other Prescription Information You May See

The following abbreviations may appear on an eyeglass prescription:

  • OD: Oculus Dexter - Right Eye.
  • OS: Oculus Sinister - Left Eye.
  • PL / Plano: No spherical correction is required. Enter 0 when the Feralhook prescription form requires a numerical value.
  • DS / Diopter Sphere: Indicates that no astigmatism correction is specified for that eye.

Before You Submit Your Prescription

  • Confirm that OD values are entered for your right eye and OS values for your left eye.
  • Check every plus (+) and minus (-) sign carefully.
  • Enter decimal values in the format requested by the prescription form.
  • Enter prism values if your prescription includes prism correction.
  • Enter the ADD value when required for progressive lenses.
  • Provide your PD even if it is not printed on your prescription.
  • Review all prescription information before completing your lens order.
